Donation Process

When you're ready to donate item(s), let us know and we will send you a donor agreement form. It allows us to keep proper record of how materials end up in the archives. It includes a transfer of ownership, copyright ownership options, and a space to state restrictions you might like (such as restricting public access to your items for a specified amount of time or anonymizing them in our catalog). If you have any concerns about donating items, please contact us. We are happy to discuss the possibility of setting restrictions and help alleviate your concerns.

What if I don't want to donate my original items?

That's fine! We understand. We are more than happy to accept copies/scans of journals, artwork, etc. You can make copies yourself, or bring your items to our department in Criss Library and we will make copies for you.

How do I return the form?

Sign the form electronically or print/sign/scan and return via email. Or, drop it in the mail to this address:

Archives & Special Collections
Attn: Claire Du Laney or Lori Schwartz

Dr. C.C. and Mabel Criss Library
6001 Dodge St.
Omaha, NE 68182

May I fill out the donor agreement before I send you my items?

Yes! We welcome and encourage this.

How do I transfer the items to you?

If your donation is in electronic form, you may email it to us. If the file is too large for email, we’ll arrange a cloud option and will be happy to walk you through it.

If your donation is in paper form, you may mail it to the Criss Library address above and let us know so we may be on the lookout.

If you would like to drop off your item(s) or arrange for a pick-up, please email us to discuss options.

I'm a UNO employee and want to send you emails, documents, photos, etc. that colleagues and I created as part of our job. Do I need to fill out an agreement?

No donor agreement is required for UNO employee work. We need a donor agreement only for items you create/write in your personal life.
